Prayer to Father Bill

Blessed are you, Father of Life, source of goodness and peace, in whom all creation has its origin and by whom every person is loved.

In Father Bill Atkinson your mercy and compassion were made manifest as he brought solace to the suffering and hope to the needy.

By carrying the cross of life faithfully he proclaimed confidence in your love and conformity to your will, and so drew others to you and to the generous gift of your grace.

Hear our prayers which we offer through his intercession so that as your work continues to unfold among us it may bring honor to you, comfort to your people, and, according to your will, glory to your servant. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Why Father Bill?

Lily’s mom on why Lily has chosen Father Bill to pray for her:

“🙏🏼💚🙏🏼 Many have asked ‘Why have you chosen Father Bill to pray to for Lily?’. I have a litany of answers. He was friends with my Dad growing up and went to Bonner with my Uncle Ray. I am friends with his niece and we played tennis together at O’Hara. He lived at Villanova, which is where Matt and I met and got married. These are all valid reasons to feel connected to him. But please take the next couple minutes to view the documentary on his life. Get a glimpse into the spirit of a man dedicated to God. Watch as his family tells of his strength and faith. He is remarkable. He carried the cross of life faithfully proclaiming confidence in God’s love and conformity to His will. I believe Lily is mirroring Father Bill’s journey. Her grace and poise under such physical stress and illness is incredible. Her devotion to God and gratefulness to those helping her resembles Father Bill’s character.
